The Costs And Rewards Of Saying "Yes" To Jesus

-“’Come follow me, Jesus said, and I will make you fishers of men.’ At once they left their nets and followed him.” (Matthew 4:19-20) Two brothers, Simon (later called Peter) and Andrew then later two more brothers, James and John, sons of Zebedee, turned their backs on their family fishing businesses. These sons’ decisions undoubtedly made little sense to their fathers leaving both of these dads in a bit of a bind. But the four sons of fishermen were destined to become four of the 12 Apostles who would change the world. These men by saying “Yes” to Jesus had to say “No” to financial security, vocational identity and their father’s expectations for their lives. Dear Father, make me like Peter, Andrew, James and John and say “Yes” to You to do whatever You call me to do. The “No’s”, though painful for a time, will be infinitely worth the cost in eternity.
